During lock down, I home schooled my two children and also taught online from home. Through this period, I craved alone time for painting and missed plein air sessions outdoors. On daily walks I created ‘walking whilst drawing’ scrolls which would form the basis of paintings back in the studio, using transfer paper to keep these marks authentic from the experience. As the weeks passed, the envelopes began to document the fleeting breaks in isolation. This process of art making became a lifeline to me, as times got tougher. When I paint I am at peace, it allowed me to breath, it allowed me to escape.
